I've been wearing Ariat boots for the last three or four years. Specifically, I've had a pair of the workhog H2O boots. I finally wore them out and decided that for my next pair I wanted something with a little more traditional western styling that would still provide the functionality of a work boot. I am very happy that I chose the Ironside boot. The fit of this boot is typical of the Ariat brand in that it runs a little narrow. I checked the size of my workhogs and ordered the same size Ironside (a 13 EE) and the fit was perfect. It was a slight change getting used to the narrower toe box, but after two days of wear my feet are adjusting and the boot is breaking in and proving to be exceptionally comfortable. Additionally, the U-turn entry system allows my boat-sized feet to slip in with ease.Due to the landscape in my area, waterproofing is a must, and I can say after walking my dogs in a rather soggy yard that this boot definitely fits the bill in that department. Also, the tread is excellent in mucky terrain, providing enough grip while easily self-cleaning and not tracking mud into the house with deep lugs.I've gotten several compliments already on the style of the boots. This leather is brushed, creating an appearance similar to buckskin. I initially thought this might create problems with cleaning, but so far any dirt has easily been released with a light brushing.Overall, I'm exceptionally pleased with the Ironside boot. Ariat had already made me a customer for life with the durability and comfort of my workhogs, but this boot further solidified my opinion. I highly recommend the Ironside to anyone who wants a comfortable boot that can seamlessly go from working the back 40 to living it up in the honkytonk and back again. As a note for those whose work or leisure includes an equine companion: this boot's heel is definitely adequate to keep you in place in the stirrups, and appears to be equipped with a spur ledge as well.
